10 Tips and Tricks to playing Tribes of Midgard

Whether you’ve just started playing Tribes of Midgard, or you’re an Einherjar veteran, there’s plenty of new things to learn about the game here and there, especially as the game evolves over time.

Some tips and tricks to playing Tribes of Midgard are more on the hidden side, gained knowledge through playing, or passed down through our community. We’ve recapped some of our favourites that you might not know about yet here!

Let’s get into it.

10. Sound the Rallying Horn

RallyHorn.png

If you want to alert all players in the world that help is needed at the Village, you can walk up to the Rallying Horn to the left side of Dagný. Sounding the horn will send a global chat alert to all players in the World, and will make a sound heard by everyone in the match. (just be sure not to cry wolf)

9. Seek temperature protection at Shrines, Merchants and Sorcerers

Sorcerer.jpg

If you’re too hot, or too cold while out exploring (I get it, sometimes you gotta run naked) you can retreat to a nearby Shrine, Merchant or Sorcerer. Standing by any of these points of interest is considered a safe zone, and you will stop taking damage from the elements.

8. Take a Shortcut to the Village Shrine

VillageSnap.gif

When you’re in a pinch and need to teleport back to the Village (FAST) - you can open your World Map, and press “CTRL” or “Y” on the controller, to immediately snap to the Village shrine. No more searching around the map to get home quick!

7. Quick-drop items

m1vVpJuDN7Y9Mh7luot-o9sTFr1EmOWKDhMvyq2b_Cl3X5OY7LDMdTfjw0xFI8h2N4JpZhKeGIF-yyW5dPVmYrDvosl4WM2UPGoy_AJjVQVNNJX7bsDFLpx8KRv6ttWMRx0ok2vplbU1ilkVww

If your friend needs a new gear set (how kind of you), or if you want to quickly clear your inventory, you can click on an item and select "drop". But did you know there’s a faster way to drop items? You can "right-click" on the mouse or left "in-click" on the controller to drop items with one click.

6. Pin Recipes on the go

Do you ever have those moments where you’re out exploring, keen on crafting this one specific weapon, but don’t remember a single material you need to craft it? (dw, same). You can easily pin crafting recipes on the go. Just open up the inventory screen (by pressing “I” on keyboard or “select” on controller and head to the Recipes tab.

Then, either right click (keyboard) or left in-click (controller) to “pin” the recipe. Now, each time you collect a material related to that crafting recipe, it will live update and let you know how many you need!

5. Jump in the water to cool off

SVcgov6Ait3smP2IPOQPG9Mzb_njl96hfO6yLGPqwCofT5p6jBO-VY-25EsGml23BvEXB5zIuqLA5bhJcL33sQRXMZEFd3WYX3jQ-uI4vYqzjaWV04ssvY-XO65Dwv9SWuOp4zYbS0IH5gfObg

Another tip relating to temperature - it can also be nullified by jumping into the water. Note that this only works if you’re too hot though! So next time you’re taking a trip to the Smoky Highlands… make sure you have a fresh river nearby just in case.

4. Blue loot bags can be picked up by everyone in the match

0b9I9jLS0YEtVU-Uk_bN7FzAukvy71056BsTsRAIeaahKMxonlNxyhHyVD7UEWFrGcPbAjKjd0ZjzXOafu-v4C7N3OZuIDNPTlxVpEC7vcKyZR68AjXqx6CE6QHA07y4s2MupQc-SFnSaKckpA

If you see a blue loot bag on the ground - be sure to let your teammates know! Everyone in the world can pick up an instance of these materials. (Sharing is caring). Keep in mind that they do disappear after a few days, so use a pin on your map (just click on the map to toggle this option) to let others know where the loot is!

3. The Seed of Yggdrasil heals gates (and you) faster when it has more Souls

HqTJ3E1KduksF5izB-L-shVDE8LwTWT4b_5xUqsOE6MMkqfj20IQ1xhEPJAyUYfv62zpBnPT2WLn2RJY6DE8VgBKBnxLA3ZS3egoM4VNxSEL2Taz1B6gKWJ_N8OE3J-0U4e5gxdubs2bflcC0A

There’s a reason the Seed of Yggdrasil is at the heart of everything in your Village. Not only does it heal YOU when you’re in the Village, but it also heals (repairs) your gates passively. And the more Souls you give to Yggdrasil, the faster the healing ticks.

2. You can toggle your Helmet on and off

w2U5JR9F55ICW-6cx-4PuVZTjl6pxnV00klT36J0F4-LPFY3Bw3UN7XXqpx7rqu3KOdZa0FXV_Dso8rFJLTxynxAY-y3bHoZ9DRI-sFesVQOBEF2ei3IbuAFcNhr62mP3oL99WTcy0clJ4bVxA

Alright, had to include one for those who like to show off their hair. You can toggle your helmet on or off without affecting your armor stats - just open your inventory, press “T” (keyboard) or right in-click (controller) to make your helmet disappear.

1. Run faster on paths

8wT3e_4FlV5uRcbiCGdv-gCE8suPJ0D-Whb1eKl3nxRLd5O2Dofq_cOInoXYB8hY6ouo7lrxU9YeinufM9qKZNQgwDMgPlZMUZEPmSIL41o0HDOMr25KsolG2lJ4jJhOdycCFkeyXmk0mhN6Fg

A classic one- when time is of the essence, be sure to use paths to travel. You’ll immediately run faster on any path in the world! This is especially useful in Saga Mode, where time is certainly of the essence.

Now, I've definitely not covered all tips out there, these are just some that come up rather often in our Discord!

The real question is… are there any more you would add to the list?

I’ve played many hours of this and never realized about #5 & #6. If you’re playing solo you can explore for the first 2 days as the gates will hold up against the evening attack. So get the most out of it.

a lot of new people don't realize how important and helpfull the quarry and lumberyard are! they are vital for a fast run! (it took me bout 5 short runs before i realized what they did)

Very true, rush to get those buildings up first. The fastest (and with luck) way is to find pathes that lead to hills with a gate. Killing those gates will net a lot of resources that you don’t have to farm for. I normally just depend on those to accumulate my resources needed for the quarry and lumberyard.

Focus on the tools. They're a MUST!

Save your Golden Horns to craft new Starter Kits, Runes or Weapons you're interested in trying. The Skins in the store come back regularly so don't feel like you need to unlock them immediately.

all this time and I didn’t know you run faster on paths

Oh darn didn’t know that water can cool you off, always avoided it so I wouldn’t drown lol

Once you have a few classes to pick wait till level 3-5 to choose a class, or till you have a few runes, if you've been getting all healing runes might need to be a seer, if it's all rune gain and soul power might need to go warden, early gained runes should definitely help decide classes don't lock yourself in

When trying to find the land of pools check your quests to see if they are in that biome.

Smash those bombardments located on some of the ramps on the map for cut stone, wood planks and wrought iron to quickly build the lumber yard, quarry or farm.

The most of this is great to know now, before enter online mode. Thanks!!

Facinating...didnt know you walk faster on the path... good Info for the next attemps
