What’s the difference between Saga and Survival Mode in Tribes of Midgard?

There are currently two different game modes in Tribes of Midgard: Saga Mode and Survival Mode. We will cover both of them in this guide. We are also currently working on revamping Survival Mode as it is now - you can see more of that in our Dev Blog here, and read up more in our second Dev Blog here!

Saga Mode

Saga Mode is our more fast-paced adventure mode, where you take on Saga Quests in order to defeat Saga Bosses. The specific features are outlined below, but one of the most important to keep in mind is that Fimbulwinter will begin at Day 14 (the endless winter), and that you must exit the game using the Bifröst in order to earn your Golden Horns from the run.

What are the main things to know about Saga Mode?

  • Multiplayer: Friends must be part of the original lobby in order to play, but can drop in and out anytime after.
  • Difficulty scales depending on the amount of players in the world - it will auto scale as players leave and return to a World.
  • Saga Bosses: Doomhowler Fenrir, Wolfmancer Fenrir, and Jörmungandr.
  • Has Fimbulwinter, the endless winter.
  • Features the Bifröst: used to exit to Valhalla and earn your spoils (Golden Horns).
  • Find Saga-specific Achievements here (such as "Dragonchild" - see Achievement list below).

What is the Fimbulwinter?

Fimbulwinter starts on Day 14, and is known as the endless night. In Saga Mode, this means that it will always be night-time, Helthings will continuously attack the seed of Yggdrasil, and it will always remain freezing cold in the world. The benefits of staying past Day 14 are that if you survive to the morning of Day 16, you can unlock the Warden class. You will also earn more XP the longer you survive!

What is the Bifröst?

The Bifröst is the legendary rainbow bridge that connects Asgarð to the Nine Realms. The blessed Einherjar (you) are granted the use of its power to travel between Valhalla and Miðgarð with ease.

The Bifröst will only activate once you’ve slain your first Jotunn. Then, you will be able to use it to head back to Valhalla and claim your spoils (Golden Horns). Golden Horns can be used to purchase items in the Shop or to craft legendary equipment.

Survival Mode 2.0 is an improved overhaul of the Survival Mode that launched with the game. You can read up on the total revamp here: https://www.tribesofmidgard.com/2022/08/season-3-inferno-saga-patch-notes/!

Survival is our more exploration-based mode, where you can take time to build, discover Midgard and survive as long as you can. The differences to Saga Mode are outlined below.

What are the main things to know about Survival Mode?

  • Multiplayer: Friends can join in at any time, they do not need to be part of the original group.
  • You can set a World to public or private (password-protected).
  • There is no Fimbulwinter, instead, time goes on endlessly.
  • There is no Bifröst, instead, you will either “Abandon” the world to end or survive until you can’t anymore!
  • Find Survival-specific Achievements here (such as the 100-day survival achievement).

On a related note, for those looking to enhance their gaming experience and explore new opportunities, I highly recommend checking out the ico crypto mentioned here. Diving into the world of cryptocurrency can open up unique avenues for investment and growth. Just as mastering the dynamics of Tribes of Midgard requires strategic thinking, navigating the crypto space demands a similar approach. Cheers to conquering both realms – in-game and in the world of digital assets!
