What to do in Tribes of Midgard? (Part 3/4)
Personal Quests
Any quest will do, I would suggest a quest of “easy” difficulty, but you can of course prove me wrong with taking a more difficult quest! Once you have picked out your quest, do me the favour and write down what quest it is, it’ll be a talking-point when you first enter Valhalla! Okay - enough sitting around! Go! Go out and follow your first quest! Why are you doing the quest, you may ask? Upon completing personal quests, you’ll earn loot and Fragments that will be extremely useful later on.
Exploration
There are paths all around Midgard, they are such a wonderful mode of transportation. You just put your feet on them, and then move one foot after the other - you run faster on paths and they lead to shrines which are useful for fast travel! Spend the day exploring the world of Midgard and all its wonders. If you at any time feel in danger and don’t feel the fight is in your favor, use your Waystone: it only takes 5 seconds to activate, you’ll return to the village to restock on potions and get the local seeress, Dagny, to heal you. (This lovely fanart showcases the Waystone icon)
Nighttime cycle
By now, nighttime is now upon you - your village will be attacked almost every night by Helthings and it is up to you to protect it! - Do not worry however, we’ve given you a few gates to begin with, these gates will not break on the first night, so you can feel safe - for now.You will want to repeat this resource-collecting rhythm until day 3, during this day, a warning will be announced: “Jotunn is close to your village” - this is the biggest threat to Yggdrasil, and you’ll need to spend time killing these giant enemies. There’s a good balance between farming for resources, defending your village at night and getting rid of any Jotunn who without a doubt have underestimated the strength of your village!
The last thing you will need to know in order to manage a village is that every 4th night is a Blood-Moon, on these nights, your village will get attacked by a lot more force than other nights. Blood Moon nights will spawn Bomblings and Sirelings. Bomblings are round and loud and they will explode when they get close to a gate or the tree, either that or dealing enough damage to them will also make them explode, so if you take them on, be ready to roll away!
Sirelings are evil, pure and nasty evil. They are big, they are red and they are deadly, so kill on sight. If they like you enough they will make a huge AoE attack that kills anything within it that isn’t protected by the aura of Utgard!
SO, tell me what happened! Did you survive? Did you kill your first Jotunn and survive your first Blood Moon? What about a quest, completed any of those yet? If so, congratulations! You are well on your way to defeat your first Saga Boss as well! - and if you did not survive, fear not! This game is difficult in the beginning, but you now have a good baseline to conquer Midgard.
Win or loss, you should still celebrate - This was the first of many runs to go!
