Where to start in Tribes of Midgard? (Part 2/4)​

Your first tool​

So, you’ve spawned into this mythical world with nothing but the most primitive clothes and your most trusted weapons and your fists. Spend the first minutes running around collecting resources. You want to collect at least 5 branches and 3 flint in order to craft yourself the flint Tools at Eyrun the Tinker in your Village. Resources can be harvested in multiple ways:

• You can either interact with them (press F), if they are smaller resources like flowers, a bunch of branches or a small pile of stone
• Or you can use Tools
• Or cast spells to destroy and harvest resources if they are larger pieces like trees, iron or stone!

Go ahead, give it a try: try using the spell you have when wielding your fists, kick down a tree! Of course, once you get yourself a set of Tools, it feels like a waste to spend mana on harvesting, but in a dire situation it is a possibility!

If you enjoy harvesting resources you can continue doing that, but you also need to explore the world of Midgard. (If you spend all day picking flowers you’ll eventually lose the game when the Jötunn comes around).

Your First Weapon​

Now, gather enough resources to make a weapon, but what weapon? Any weapon really, some are ofc objectively stronger than others, but I am not going to tell you to wield a sword if you want to wield an axe - this is up to personal preference. Slay your enemy however you want! Just pay a visit to Steinar the Blacksmith in the top right of your village to craft it. Whacking goblins with a hammer as if they were moles is a great pastime!

Your First Equipment​

You’ve got a weapon now? Great, are you using both hands to hold and swing your weapons? If the answer is yes, we'll skip this next part and jump down to “And now you’re ready!” If the answer was no? Well fear not, we can surely find something that hand can hold as well… how about a shield? I know… I know… We are Vikings, we don’t need to hide behind shields, but you have clearly not met any goblins yet, because those rocks? They get everywhere if you are not blocking them with a shield. A few more resources might need to be gathered to get yourself a shield, but trust me, it is worth it. You can craft a Shield by visiting Borghild, our very own Tailor!

And now you’re ready! You’ve talked to a few of the NPCs and crafted your first set of tools and weapons, you are now ready to venture out onto your first quest. Go to the Quest Board (it’s right beside the lovely Seeress, Dagny) and pick a quest.
